Welcome to my portfolio! Here you will find a world of amazement including all my acievements since I first started attending New Technology High just about two years ago. The portfolio outlines jsut about everything we do at Tech with all the learning outcomes that the curriculium follows.

So now that you know a bit about the portfolio you might be thinking "what about you?" So as you know my name is Ashley Young, and I do attend New Technology High School. I grew up in the great Napa Valley until 7th grade when I switched to the other wine county, Sonoma Valley. I grew up with my mom and my two brothers. We moved around a bit but all and all it was a good childhood. In 5th grade I was in the GATE program for advanced kids, and with them we took a tour of the brand new New Tech High. Thats when I decided I was going to go there for high school and I had been counting down to my junior year ever since. Just about the time we moved to Sonoma, my brother, Kyle Young, started attending New Tech. He loved it here and it more influenced my desires to come here. When I started attending Sonoma Valley High in my freshmen year, I quickly learned that normal high school life wasnt for me. The kids were rude and uninspired to achieve anything. In 10th grade I switched schools to Casa Grande in Petaluma, striving for something different. This was better but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. Then finally, my 11th grade year came and I came to New Tech. This all lead me to be here now getting ready for college having achieved so much in the environment I had been striving for.

Tech has shaped me to be a better person and taught me that I can acieve my goals if I work at them. Because of this I will be the first person in my family to attend a four year college and the first to get a scholarship to help that. I am going to be attending San Francisco State University and I will be enrolled in the CAD (Child Adolecent Development) program. This will prepare me for a career being an elementary school teacher when I graduate. I love working with kids and my goal in life is to make a difference in the world, so my plan to achieve this is to do it individually by making a difference in many different kids lives so they can go on to feel the same way.

I have breifly talked about the learning outcomes, but you may be asking yourself what they are. The learning outcomes are the basic guidlines to Tech, every project is formulated about them. There are eight different ones and they all in some way help toward life after high school. For example there is career preparation, this included projects like making this portfolio and making a resume to help one get a job, as well as the requirement for 50 hours of intership work which gets students into a field they may be interested in and gives them a real job doing that. Another example is collaboration, in college, most every job, and in everyday life, good collaboration skills are needed. If people cannot get along there really is no way to complete anything. Tech has almost every project working with others and teaching those to collaborate effectivly even if you dont get along. I feel that I am able to collaborate with anyone now on anything even if I wouldn't normally collaborate with the person. There are six other outcomes and they are all outlined in my learning outcomes section if you would like to view them.

So now that you have gotten some good knowledge on me you are prepared to venture into the rest of my portfolio. I have many goals in life and I plan to achieve them. I know that nothing will hold me back if i really want to achieve them. To attend college I will be working at my steady job as a Store Trainer at In-N-Out, and I will do my best in my classes. Then I plan to devote my life to teaching kids effectivly and taking with me all the things I''ve learned at Tech.
