Perhaps the most ellusive in nature, this learning outcome is much more simple than many people realize. Everyday the choices we make are interpreted through our ethics. When we choose to do the right thing, even when no one is watching, we are staying true to our natural system of ethical reasoning.
Our citizenship is closely tied to this system. As the denizens of the freest country in the world, we have a responsibility to reciprocate and uphold the accomplishments of our forefathers. This attribute is unique to America, as we have the ability to do this every single day.

This is an outline for an episode centered on the Navajo Codetalkers of WWII that was part of a minorities-based project in American Studies. I believe this is a good example of citizenship and ethics because of what it symbolizes. It symbolizes the unsung heroes finally being recognized in the curriculum. These people's sacrifices for America, forgotten for so long, are finally being remembered.
