Hello my name is Julie Vincent, I am a senior at New Technology High School . This portfolio was made to show future employers and members of this school board what I have accomplished at these two years at New Technology High School . My portfolio will have examples of my school work and why they are associated with the eight learning outcomes required at new technology high school.
Hello my name is Julie I will first start off telling you about why I decided to come to new technology high school. I previously went to Napa High School and heard about New Tech from a guest speaker that came into our class. From what I heard about the school I immediately wanted to go. Napa high was not the school for me, I was tired of the certain cliques at Napa High such as the (preps, geeks, jocks). I wanted to go to a school where students could be themselves, so I left Napa High.
I love being at New Tech and feel that the students that attend the school with me are great people. I have made so many new friends and feel like I really belong. My main goals that I wanted to accomplish at New Tech involved my grades and friends. When I went to Napa High I always felt like I was never learning anything. After switching to New Tech the work was hard, but I was able to retain more information.
New Tech is a technological school, but my future job has no relevance to technology. I want to become a veterinarian, and help animals around the world. I have always had a passion for animals and half of my child hood pictures involve me with some kind of creature. I plan on going to a junior college near by, either Napa Junior College or Santa Rosa Junior College. I want to go to a junior college for two years to get my associates degree and then transfer to Davis to Become a Veterinarian. I will probally attend college for six to seven years and I hope to become a great Vet.
Being at New Technology High School these last two years have really changed me. I have become a great speaker a better listener and an all around better person. When I enrolled at New Tech I knew things would be more difficult for me, but I liked the freedom we had at this school. The teachers here are amazing, even though half of them are leaving this year. For most of my freshman and sophomore life I suffered from depression. I was having a horrible time at Napa High so I decided to give New Technology High school a try. I feel that being at this school has given me the confidence to need to do anything I set my mind to.
My senior project at New Tech required me raising an animal through 4H. I am very happy that I was able to do my senior project because I have always wanted to join 4H but never had time. I am currently in the process of raising my sheep and plan to sell then at the fair. Senior project was so much fun and I can't wait until I finish my first and last year in 4H. My personal statement tells a lot about who I am, but in reality I am a poet, an actor and a friend to everybody who needs one.
