Senior Project Reflection

New Technology High school 's senior project is unique and different from any other type of project that other public high schools might offer. This project requires you to go through a personal journey and makes you want to explore outside of your comfort zone. The other thing that's so great about it is that we basically get to attack this project anyway that we want to. I am very grateful that this senior project exists at this high school because without it, I wouldn't have attempted my goal until a good time after I graduated.

The way I decided to attack my senior project was by pursuing my future goals and dreams in life of becoming a computer technician. The first step is becoming certified as an entry-level computer technician, which A+ certification provides you. I figured this would be an awesome way to complete my senior project because I could take the first step towards my future and attack something I really wanted to while still having lots of fun doing it all. Being able to choose what you want to attack for your senior project is very important. When you're doing something you want you are much motivated and obviously you will have a much better time.

At first, everything seemed to be going great with my project and I was really excited to pass my test and become A+ certified. As with most learning processes I got frustrated and overwhelmed with all of the information I was required to attain. I wanted to give up at first because I felt like I was going to fail and then all my hard work and studying would just go to waste. My mentor stuck by my side though and helped me to keep my chin up and just keep on trying. I learned a whole new meaning for the phrase, “Practice makes perfect.”

Eventually test day came around and it was my day to prove I had learned everything an entry-level computer technician is required to know. I was very nervous going there and the whole time taking the test, but I just kept all the tips my mentor gave to me in my head. After I completed the test, I was unbelievably happy to see that I had a passing score of 574. It made my self-esteem levels shoot straight through the roof.

Overall I feel I did a good job on my senior project. I gave it my all and worked very hard towards my goal, which I completed. I might have wanted to give up once throughout the whole journey, but I guess that's what makes it a journey, right? Once again I just want to emphasize how grateful I am for this project and everything it has done for me. I wouldn't have ever attempted and experienced this if it weren't for this unique and personal senior project. Thanks New Tech!
