Internship is a process in which students are given the opportunity to gain knowledge of a work environment. It provides them the experience which will enhance their skills and learn certain aspects of the system implemented in the work place. The internship is a sort of preparation for me to deal with my future endeavors. In all kinds of work, whether business or field, an entrepreneurship, paperwork and personal, contacts are inevitable. Organization is also part of the picture, and this was something I learned from my internship. I had my internship at the Solano County Health and Social Services offices in Vallejo, California. My duties included typing, entering data into the computer, and stuffing envelopes with letters to parents to confirm their attendance in school. I also assisted other employees who have backlogs in filing records and documents. In a way, the employees were happy to have me around. Being so young, I was treated very well by the older workers, who treated me like an adult and not as a kid. Through them, I learned about ethics, and how working as a professional has very positive effects. I was under the supervision of Jennifer Isaac who had been so nice and helped me when I needed more instruction. Since we’re living in a high tech world my tasks which I had perform for the internship program have a great relevance in what I have learned in school. It was a blessing to come to New Tech where I have learned something different. All the work I did in my internship will surely assist me to be a good worker, especially in the career of my choice. The knowledge I’ve gained I can implement more efficiently and effectively based upon this short but wonderful internship experience. The computers I used in the place were modern and up to date. Computer is a really big part of my daily life, so I enjoyed working. There were certain machines that I saw being used by certain employees like Xerox machines and fax machines. Overall it has been a very pleasant experience which has challenged me intellectually and socially. It has given me more courage to interact with people as I am quite a shy individual. It sure provided me the wisdom on how an office environment operates aside from the physical aspects of dealing with certain high technology equipment. Most of all, I love the people I work with. They taught me a lot on how to interact professionally at work. The things I learned from the people I worked with I’ll take with me throughout life.
