Water polo player + swimmer + nerd = Me. I am one of the nerdiest athletes and one of the most athletic nerds you will ever find. I can solve a Rubik's cube while treading water and I can quote Star Trek while doing one handed pushups. However, most of my friends would describe me as friendly, outgoing, and intelligent; however, a few of my two best friends, Kyle and Ben, would say that I am argumentative, stubborn and arrogant. I value the later opinion more. There is nothing like a close friend who is willing to be brutally honest with you. This honesty has allowed me to analyze my weaknesses and improve myself. Although Kyle and Ben are often too brutally honest, I always find humorous ways to pass the time with them. Quite a lot of the time our entertainment involves playing pranks on each other. One such prank involved car paint designed to easily wash off. Kyle and I wrote “How's my driving? Call [Ben's cell phone number]” on his rear windshield. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, Ben washed it of before he left school. If he left it on I'm sure he would have received some unpleasant phone calls. Kyle, Ben and I also have a tendency to carry on inside jokes for a long time. One day in our environmental science class our teacher, Mr. McDowell, asked the class a question. Something along the lines of: How can an environmental task force be used to enforce environmental laws throughout the world? After a few seconds of thoughtful silence from the class Kyle shouted “Captain Planet!” Kyle, Ben, and I carried this joke on for months with random inferences but the climax of the joke is when we memorize the theme song and sang it a cappella for New Tech's talent show. Apart from “hanging out” with my friends, I find science, math, and engineering very interesting. I am especially drawn to the field of astrophysics. Maybe, it is just that I have heard “Space, the final frontier” too many times, but just the vastness of the universe alone captivates me. Sometimes on a clear night, I just stare up at the stars and wonder. How many of those bright pinpoints of light are alone? How many are binary? Have planets? I could ask questions forever, but I must find answers, too. There must be something up there for me to find. The universe is so vast, and as relatively empty as it is, there is so much to find. From my own mind to the cosmos, I am curious about it all. I will never stop asking questions and never stop seeking out information. It is my way of showing my endless curiosity. It is the journey for knowledge that really draws me in, and as long as there's more to learn, there is more fun to be had.
