Career Preparation
Career preparation is the learning outcome that helps us recognize what we as students are doing to prepare ourselves for our future careers. This is one of the most important learning outcomes because it allows us to focus on what we are doing to help us get jobs after high school, and also what we have already have done… but if your looking at this then you probably want to know how this applies to me.
To be perfectly honest I think this learning outcome is a little redundant. Everything you do now and have done in the past is what will reflect on to your future. But I do have some things that I have been doing specifically for my future career. For example, my senior project was specifically designed to help me get a better start at school and to take the next step in my education in that area. If you haven't looked at the Senior Project page yet, I did it in the field of boats. I learned how to drive a 36 foot power boat and how to sail a 32 foot sailboat. I am going to go to the California Maritime Academy in September and after that I am going to train to become a San Francisco Bar Pilot. (For more information you can see the Senior Project Page)
I also think this portfolio is another good way of preparing for my career. Any employer could look at this and recognize that I have fufilled the New Tech High standard in creating a web based portfolio that reflects what I have learned at Tech.
