Career Preparation is one of the 8 learning outcomes that can relate to a job. Whether it is circuits to prepare you to be an electrician, maybe a pitch that you have to do trying to sell a history series to HBO; these things are Career Preparation. This is something that gives you a small taste of working in groups, presenting, and critical thinking. Here at New Technology High School we prepare for a career in every project. Most projects you need to present which this is one of the greatest career preparations they can give us. Being able to speak to a group convincing them you know what you're doing is something you will have to do with every job.
Example One: My first example is one of my favorite projects. We had to solve labs and put together circuits and we were tested on our knowledge of those circuits. I am giving this to you as an example because this can really prepare a person for their career. Giving a presentation having to work in a group and then making sure you know everything you are doing is correct; that sounds like a job to me. Test
Example Two: I am interested in being a math teacher. I love algebra and I am really good at it and understanding how it works. So for my senior year I have chosen to be a math tutor for Mr. Paisley's algebra and geometry classes. I was able to make a young man go from an F grade, to a D in a few weeks, I went through the grades and went individually to people to talk to them about why they didn't get an assignment in and on there free time I would bother them to do that assignment or test with me.
