My personal statement includes information on my accomplishments throughout high school and the goals I have for college as well as my career aspirations later in life.

As graduation is approaching, lately I've noticed myself reflecting back on my education. Ever since I was a freshman, I have looked forward to this date. Now that high school is coming to an end, I know that I have prepared myself for college. New Technology High School has been paving my way to a successful life after I graduate. I have created this portfolio to give you an idea about how I made it to this point in time, reflecting back on my achievements through high school. This portfolio will give you a better understanding of my accomplishments, goals, experiences and skills to understand me better as a person.

I was born and for the most part raised in Sonoma, California . Although I've grown up moving around the North Bay , this is my second time living here in the Napa Valley . New Technology High School is the ninth school I have attended in my twelve years of education. From Kindergarten on, I knew that I was going to go somewhere when I grew up. Ever since I began high school I saw myself as a leader and professionally I hope this title will stay with me throughout my careers. Attending this school was the biggest step for me to come closer to achieving my goals.

College will soon be approaching for me and although I will be attending Sonoma State about an hour away, I am still going to be far from home. The field I'm planning to study in is Education and I hope to minor in Psychology. Working with children is one of my passions in life. I enjoy teaching and knowing that the impact I leave on children will be with them for the rest of their lives. The accomplishment that helped me realize my career ambitions was over the summer of 2006, when I interned at a local preschool here in Napa . I learned many useful skills interning that will help me for the future.

In my spare time I enjoy acting and theater. I am currently New Technology High School 's Drama Club President for two years running. I was also a large role in last year's production of Hansel and Gretel, our school's first play. Performance arts let me connect to my own emotions by allowing me to take on the role of a different character. I take pleasure in becoming the character I'm portraying onstage that person as if I am not; I am in essence living the role. Recently I completed my senior project, were I directed a play for high school students on the topic of Social Awareness. The play ran for two days and was very successful earning my club roughly $300 in donations.

The class I enjoy and have exceeded in the most is English. Ever since I have learned to write and read, the book and the pen have never left my hands. I take pleasure in writing. I am the type of person who prefers writing nine page essays over creating a timeline. Some people might say that I am an overachiever, but I know that is how I persist. Striving to do my best is one of my focuses, if that makes me a perfectionist than I will be identified with pride.

Included in this portfolio are exceptional pieces of evidence that I have found demonstrating my work and skills. I also have work that shows my future aspirations in life. Every day I strive to learn a new skill to achieve further importance in my life; Learning and experiencing these things will broaden my horizons and hopefully will lead me to into my future career. Awaiting my future, I will continue the path that I am already on with my family and friends who will assist me down the road.
