Personal Statment
My name is Jose Antonio Mora and I’m a senior at New Tech High school in Napa. As my journey of high school comes to an end, I can see how much I’ve changed over the past years. I pause to reflect my experience that led me to this point. This portfolio is a reflection of the work that I have done though my two years in New Tech High on both academic and professional levels. Although the following portfolio isn’t as compressive as I would had like it to be due to me only being here at Tech for 2 years and not being as experience. I did learn a lot and better my new skill s and found new ones. Overall my portfolio portrays my interest in a career, in life, and my passion for cars, engines, and how things work.
I grew up in Novato but I later moved to Vallejo which became my new permanent home. I have one younger sisters and a family of five Chihuahua. My life is really nice due to my very loving and supported parents; I also enjoyed my good friends, relatives, teachers, role models, and my pets which help me strive to be better and to try my best.
During my high school years I have been able to work as a volunteer for state farm insurance and volunteering at the boys and girls club. I learn at state farm to do claims and see how insurance work. I also learn how to treat clients and how to do filing and became more confidently with my skills. I had over 50 hours of experience working there and I feel like my journey through that business helped me shape and better prepare for what is coming in my life, and as well help change my interest of office work to a mechanical technician.
As a student coming from various high school to my New Tech I have been through many method of teaching and new tech system to me feel like one that has been the greatest influence and way of learning. I’ve been able to accomplish 8 learning outcomes which had helped me in preparing me for the future. My classes in peer support, digital media, and art have all contributed to my overall interests and goals I have in life.
My long term goal is to be either doing something like small business administration or a mechanical technician or an engineer of some sort. To attain this goal I plan to attend NVC for 2 years and to see whether if my interest would stay the same and once I complete my course I plan to transfer to U.C. Davis.
