“The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards.”- Anatole France

In the process of maturing into an adult I feel like I’m finally expressing my true self.  I’ve grown up in Napa all my life. Since I was born I have always had great supportive parents. I’m am a very social person and love to meet new people with all different backgrounds. I have always had a loved to travel, which I hope on pursuing my whole life.

I was in marching and concert band for 3 years playing the flute. Music is one of my passions, especially jazz even though the flute isn’t usually part of the jazz scene.  I find that inner peace is a key thing to having in a controlled life and environment, so I’ve been practicing yoga and other methods of stress relief. Practicing has made me feel the best that I’ve felt in a long time, I plan on doing these as long as I am still willing to practice.

Being an “upper classman” in school has really got me thinking about my future lately. I have basic ideas of what I want to be when I’m older but I need to narrow it down. I know I want to work in a medical atmosphere, either being a nurse or a medical technician. My internship is taking place at The Queen of the Valley Medical Center in the Radiology department. Also in the past I’ve gone and done things at the fair and I’ve helped out at a local pediatrics’ office being a receptionist.

Another one of my passions is to help people. I find it’s a great opportunity to help anyone. I’ve done a lot of community service. For tech lends a hand, I’ve played with elementary kids having field day and I went to Connelly Ranch being a farm hand and worked with pre-school kids. They were very different things but I had fun at both. I’ve also helped out at a bunch of school things like helping out at senior projects being a timer, and gardening in front of the school. During the summer I learned great computer programs that would really benefit New Tech. So in the beginning of the year I worked towards getting those programs and they came through. Hopefully with the variety of learners at this school they can have more options to learn efficiently.

Growing and learning during the past 3 years I think I’ve matured a lot.   In the past 2 years the pressure of having a good future has really hit me and I’m really excited about pursuing my education. I have sought out help for what I need and taken a step up in my life becoming more responsible for myself. Next fall I’ll be moving on to College of the Siskiyous junior college in Weed, Ca. I hope I will stay focused and motivated for my education. After I finish my general education there I hope to move on to a bigger state college, I don’t know where yet but hopefully somewhere in California.
