As graduation nears, I find myself reflecting on my life thus far. I never thought these days would come. I had hoped for its quick delivery, even crossing days off calendars, but not that it is here, I am sorry it is. It means leaving friends who motivate me and teachers who have been my mentors—so many people who have helped to shape my life. I know everything I have accomplished throughout my high school years have helped me to prepare for college. New Technology High School has aided in paving my way to a successful life after I graduate. I created this portfolio to reflect on my high school achievements. It will give you a better understanding of not only my accomplishments but my goals, experiences, and skills that I have continued to develop throughout high school.
          I was born and raised in the beautiful Napa Valley. I am lucky to say that my parents are not divorced and my two older brothers are my best friends. They are the ones who got me interested in playing ball. I have been around the game of baseball since I was born, attending all of their games. Now, after twelve years of playing softball, it is no longer a game, it is a way of life. Under every gash and bruise lies a lesson learned. This sport brings out the best in me.
          This next year I plan on continuing my softball career in college at the University of Vermont in Burlington. I will be attending this division I school on academic and athletic scholarships where I will be majoring in exercise and movement science. While I will miss everything in California, I feel going to the East Coast for college will be one of the greatest experiences. It will definitely give me a chance to spread my wings and mature as a young adult. From there, I plan on going to graduate school for physical therapy to become a personal trainer specializing in rehabilitation. Already I have started to achieve this goal by interning for Human Performance Fitness Center where I worked with professional trainers and clients. This experience, in addition with my athletic background and schooling will help me to achieve my long-term goals.
          Tech has allowed me to grow in not only the traditional ways but through the aid of our eight learning outcomes. I have always possessed excellent collaboration skills because of softball, but have often lacked the necessary oral communication skills needed to succeed. This school has helped me develop such components of my life. At New Tech, I have been able to develop technology skills and better written communication skills which will help me in anything I want to do in life.
          This portfolio includes exemplary work from all of the New Tech learning outcomes. I have found these pieces to demonstrate my dedication and abilities. I strive for ways to broaden my horizons. Already with the support of family and friends, I will be able to achieve anything I desire.
