Well, we go to New Technology High school, so what do you expect to happen. We learn about technology. It is more of a natural occurrence than a forced effort; the school itself takes very little effort into teaching us technology. All we are actively taught by the school the fundamentals on technology, but beyond that, the school has a very natural way of teaching you to be literate in using technology.
We’ve learned to use all kinds of programs, spreadsheets, etc. I mean, this portfolio alone is fairly good evidence of the literacy we’ve gained with technology. New Technology High is oriented around two unique ideas: Project Based Learning, and incorporating Technology into our leaning experience. We are a generation that has been raised on the notion that being able to manipulate pixels on a screen is a completely natural occurrence. We are a generation that fully understands how to communicate with the other side of the world with the flick of a wrist and the wink of an eye. Frankly, to not be learning to use computers with your basic education would set you behind in these modern days.
For my example, I have a PowerPoint that I did for a “sales pitch” presentation. I had to throw this together impromptu, so I think it came out pretty well. That can be found here.
