Personal Statement

Hello my name is Sam Brown and this is my personal statement. This statement is significant because it shows how I have improved myself in my time here at New Tech, and it shows how I changed throughout my high school years.

I have gone through many things in my life but somewhere more exciting than others. I was born in Napa and I haven't lived anywhere else. Although my family is quite large, I would have to say that I only know maybe one third of my entire family.

Over the years I have experienced many things, but some were more enjoyable than others. One of the more enjoyable experiences was when I actually got a 4.0 GPA in seventh grade. A few things that I didn’t enjoy over the course of my time in High School; two of the main things were the fact that my house caught on fire right after the start of my senior year and the second one would have to be that I lost my grandmother in early May of my senior year too. Those two experiences really impacted my life, and I doubt I will ever forget them either.

 I'm not really the type of person that helps out the community a lot, but every once in a while I will help with something. The most recent of the things I have done was going out in to the community would have to be at the start of my final semester of my senior year. In my college class my teacher told us we had to go out and do some type of field work and she gave us a list of options of places that we could go and I choose to do mine at the Bel Aire Elementary school. Also at New Tech we are required to take the last week of school to “lend a hand” to the community through certain groups that were set up by our school. Each different group would go out into the community and help in whatever way they could. Those are just a few experiences that have helped make me what I'm today.

I have many things that I do out of school just for fun. One of the main things is that I'm involved in is just about every type of water sport I can think of. I think that I have done just about everything that can be done in the water, just about, but not everything. I love to swim, water ski, air chair, wakeboard, and many other things in that category. Another thing that I like to do is being with my friends, whether is just hanging out or helping them do something. Those are only a few things that I like to do in my free time.

I am still undecided on what it is that I want to do with my life once I graduate from high school. The only thing that I would have to say is after doing my internship at Piccolinno’s Italian Café, wheree I worked as a prep cook and it really opened my eyes on what it would be like to work at a restaurant. I enjoyed the time I spent there and it really made me think about going into that line of work.

I have had many things happen in my life. And some might have been more influential than others, but everyone is important. Probably the best experience that I had was coming to New Technology High School.
