Curricular Literacy is content knowledge. The traditional high schools often focus only on curricular literacy, and usually only evaluate it through homework or tests. There are many different ways of expressing knowledge of the curriculum. Besides tests and essays, you can give a presentation, write a website, create a poster or a flash video.
For my 10th grade Biology class (under the ineffable Mr. McDowel), I and my group created a website about the Endocrine System.
