Oral Communication

Description

The majority of presentations given at New Tech are in person. The only other final product that we create is a movie, a website, or some other free standing media. For those presentations that we give in person, they are usually given standing up in a group, with a PowerPoint. We have also done skits and plays, and also trials and speeches. Usually, our presentations our given to a mid-size group, and includes the rest of the class and the panel. (The panel is often professionals that are somehow related to the project, parents, teachers, alumni, or other community members.)

When giving presentations, it is important to express yourself clearly and in a manner that is appropriate for your audience. It is important to always have the right word within reach, and remember what comes next. Pacing is important, posture is important, and eye contact is important.
