“What can not be spoken can be sung, what can not be sung can be danced ” – Martha Graham.
My name is Alexandria [Alex] Luna- Morales; I have been at new tech since my freshman year. Ever since I can remember dance has always been apart of my life it is a way for me to express my self with out words, a way for me to relive myself when I need to the most. I was born in St. Helena , and lived in Napa till I was three with my little brother and sister, then when I was seven my family moved back to Napa . At two and a half I started St. Helena Montessori School and graduated there in sixth grade. I believe that Montessori gave me the confidence to be a leader and to be very independent. My parents wanted me to go to a Napa school when we moved to Napa but I couldn't leave Montessori, I wanted to graduate with my friends and so I did. But when the decision came to pick a middle school I was ready for a change, I could have gone to another private catholic school but instead I decided to go to public school.
I stated my seventh grade year at Redwood Middle School [in Napa ]; at first I was really scared not only going to a huge public school but not knowing anyone there. I've always been extremely outgoing and so it wasn't hard to make new friends. During eighth grade I was set to go to Napa High School for dance, but then my parents [my dad being a teacher] herd about new tech and really wanted me to go there, so we set up a little deal: if I get in to New Tech then I go, but if I don't I go to Napa High. I was accepted. Sad to have to start over again I went and made even better friends. I'm so happy I came to New Tech; I have learned so much more about my self and actually want to do more than just graduate high school. At New Tech, I finally feel challenged again and I quickly came to love the new environment. I really enjoy working in groups, on projects that build new relationships and educate us to communicate with others in a professional environment. Another great learning experience for me has been presenting projects. I feel this has really given me a tool that will help me in the future. Some other skills that I am learning at NTHS are the "learning outcomes." I'm learning how to control my voice, loud and soft. I've learned many different computer skills, such as working with power point's, spreadsheets, and different programs for math. I've learned how to write research papers and short stories, and how to make stories interesting by using interesting vocabulary words and describing every little bit of information.
One day I hope to grow up to be an important person. To be a person who contributes a lot to society and to be a positive role model. Most importantly, I hope my family and friends of mine will be proud of me too. Live life to the fullest with no regrets. With this portfolio, I hope it shows my true personality and potential. I know that if I try and put as much effort as I can, I will accomplish anything I want to. And this personal statement is going to help me do that. With all the opportunities out there, my goal will be met by the choices I make and the effort I put into it. I hope this helps you to understand a little more about me.
Thank You
