Technology Literacy

What is Technology Literacy?

“Many jobs require computer skills, technical knowledge and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. Employers expect you to be able to use technology to complete tasks and to improve your job performance.”

Most jobs nowadays have a good eye for those with the ability to use a computer, here at New Tech, this is one of our prime ways to prepare the student body for that job as a graphic designer, or a typist, or any other computer related job that you could think of. Technology Literacy is the ability to use a computer and all of the different sorts of programs and applications that come with it. In fact, it would be reasonable to say that anyone who goes to New Tech will not survive for very long without adapting to our computer based environment. Of course, there are classes that teach you how to use computers and their programs such as Power Skills and Digital Media. Although Power Skills is a more basic class for computers and their programs such as Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint, whereas Digital Media teaches you about the fundamentals and basics of other programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks.

The best possible evidence of my Technology Literacy would be this portfolio, which utilizes all of my skills as far as Technology Literacy goes, including the use of Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and saving Word documents as html.
