A Reviving Rose

By Travis Souza

The cries of battle that wail in the night,

A horde of evil that stands in his way.

With brisk pace he speeds with running flight,

Seeing that none will see day.

In clothing that hides him from doom.

A cape filled with dozens of holes.

His hair so white as white as the moon.

His boots, with thickened and heavy soles.

His face of a handsome detail,

His figure, a fit thin shape.

Slashing with his blade he watches them flail,

He dashes away with a flick of his cape.

A troll strikes with his hammer in vain.

He is slashed at with vigorous furry.

It falls with a thunderous slam without pain.

The hero seems to be in a hurry.

For up a tall staircase higher than a tree

And down a long hall with one door.

Lies a room where captives are never free,

And a blood stained bone covered floor.

In the corner lies a terrified woman,

Quivering with fear and cold.

She weakly opens an eye to look and scan,

Hoping to be freed by the courageous and bold.

Her skin so pale from never seeing light,

Her hair a golden brown,

Wearing a torn up blouse of white

And a shredded wedding gown.

The door bursts open with force,

Letting in a tormentor of fell.

He grabs the captive and aiming his course,

Raises his sword, to mark hell.

The ruler makes a gurgling sound,

As something pops out through his lung.

He freezes and falls to the ground.

His blade had echoed and rung.

In the doorway stood her rescuer,

He had arrived to her tormenting nest.

With joy and happiness of having a pursuer.

She runs and cries on his breast.

Wrapping his arms to give her comfort,

He allows her to sob and weep.

There in that hellish fort,

She cries herself to sleep.

The ranger, with his massive power,

Lifts the female with ease.

With out wasting a single hour,

He turns toward the door and flees.

Outside on a knoll he climbs onto his stead,

Still holding the now freed damsel nears.

Off they fled with a harmonious need,

To forever be in love for lasting years.
