Introduction

Previous Experience

My skill at costume making was unknown until last year when I wanted to go to a Japanese animation convention. In year 2001, I had wanted to dress up as Zelgadis from a Japanese cartoon show, Slayers. Although, I only made my and my friend's cloaks (without a pattern), it was a start. The next year, my friends and I decided to dress up as the three girl witches from Maho Tsukai Tai. We made the character's entire outfits, working together and helping each other out. I made the skirt and shirt of my own outfit and the dress of my friend's outfit. We mainly created our own patterns for other parts of the outfits. I myself refuse to use any store-bought patterns.

Year 2001

Slayers

The picture on the right is the picture of me at the 2001 Fanime Convention. I had dressed up as a guy, Zelgadis, who is pictured on the left. For this costume, I had only made the two-piece cloak. The rest of the outfit, the shirt, pants, and gloves were all bought at stores.

The picture on the right is my best friend, Amitie. She and my sister had also dressed up as characters from Slayers. She dressed up as Filia, the woman on the the left side. Amitie did a lot of the work for her costume, but I helped her design the hat and part of her cloak. The dress is the only store made piece of clothing she is wearing.

Year 2002

Mahou Tsukai Tai

This picture was taken with one of our fans at Fanime 2002, Goku.  This is one of the best pictures of our entire group that is on the internet.  The anime group from left to right according to characters is Nanaka, Sae, Akane, and Aburatsubo.

The picture on the right is a picture of me, dressed up as Nanaka from Mahou Tsukai Tai. This year, our entire outfits were made by us. The only store bought clothing are the hats, gloves, and shoes. I independantly made the entire outfit that you see above. The cloak and hat that I am not wearing in this picture was made with help from my sister and my best friend.

The picture on the right shows what my best friend, Amitie, dressed up as during the year 2002 Fanime convention. She was Akane, one of the popular, out-of-it characters from the series. The blue dress, which is very short and pretty revealing, is covered by her cloak.  That dress was the part of her outfit that I made.
