The Internship Program actually preceded the 1996 establishment of New Technology High School (NTHS) by several years. In 1992, Vincent "Buzz" Butler, of Lake Street Properties, Inc. and Napa Valley Gateway Business Park, established the Napa Applied Technology Alliance to promote technology companies in Napa as well as grow a workforce by recruiting interns from the high schools. Butler took the idea to the Napa Valley Unified School District.

The efforts of the Napa Applied Technology Alliance affirmed local business support for better public school training of Napa Valley's youth for a modern-day workforce. It spurred the district's decision to create a new high school with that mission. Industry representatives then took part in the three-year planning process and have opened their doors to interns ever since.

It is with gratitude that we recognize our Founding Sponsor, Alkar Human Resources for their support of New Technology High School's Internship Program. Special thanks to Liz Pridmore-Davis for helping New Technology High School prepare students for success in the workplace.
