Social Studies Position Description
Using advanced computer skills, or having the ability to learn advanced computer skills, this teacher will plan, carry out, evaluate and supervise instructional activities in integrated World History/English 10 for groups and individual high school students. Must be a creative, collaborative, flexible teacher willing to innovate, and implement an integrated, team taught World History/English 10 class. The applicant must have a willingness to embrace technology-based, project and standards-based learning. All teachers at New Tech High will advise students in intra-class relations, digital professional portfolio development and personal learning plan development through a weekly advisory program. Willingness to work on collaborative adult teams and with a team teacher is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be flexible and willing to collaborate daily with a team teacher.
- Continue the development and organize a technology based, integrated Physics curriculum that meets state, district and school standards.
- Effectively use computer and technology skills consistent with the school’s operating standards.
- Using authentic assessment methods, evaluate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs.
- Maintain current electronic course calendar and online grades for the New Technology High School website.
- Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning.
- Establish and maintain excellent rapport with students, parents, staff members, and community members.
- Work cooperatively with other school, foundation and NTHS Learning System personnel to improve instructional programs and the overall operation of the school.
- Attend and participate in required in-service activities and assist in planning and conducting such activities.
- Communicate with students, parents and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance and behavior.
- Attend and participate in meetings called by supervisor(s) (consistent with the current employer/employee agreement.)
- Perform other adjunct duties as assigned consistent with current employer/employee agreement.
