TECHNOLOGY LITERACY

Technology Literacy displays my technical knowledge and ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. This outcome displays my ability to complete technology related tasks which will improve my job performance.

My Technology Literacy while I have been at New Technology High School has grown immensely. I began my use of technology with an Apple IIgs computer and worked using simple programs such as Math Rabbit. I then progressed to taking a class at Napa Valley Community College during the summer of 7th grade. I took the course COMS 110 which taught Microsoft Word, Excel, and a bit of Access. I received the grade of "A" in the course. I held off on Technology temporarily. My interests in computer were not resparked until I reached New Technology High School in 11th grade. There I took the courses Multimedia I and Computer Applications which strengthened my computer skills. I am now confident in my Microsoft Skills, my typing abilities and also my web page creation skills.

EVIDENCE:

Digital Portfolio: This digital portfolio is a prime example of my Technology Literacy. For this web page I used the programs Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe ImageReady, and Macromedia Dreamweaver. In comparison to my original design this web page has come a long way. Originally I used nothing but the program Netscape Composer and stuck to a one page portfolio. This web page now has a numerous number of pages and involves layers and excellent typography. My skills in web page preparation have come a long way since the beginning of my junior year.

Keyboarding:
This is an evaluation of my Keyboarding Skills using the program SouthWestern Keyboarding. It is a screenshot of my actual typing skill. It is a good example of my speed in typing and my technical literacy in that area.

Extreme 3D: My work in Extreme 3D near the end of my junior year is another example of my technology literacy. The images that I created were done with little guidance from my instructor. In the beginning I was somewhat troubled with what I wanted to create, but once I got going I could hardly stop myself. I learned the difficult program Extreme 3D and created both images within a week. 3D imaging is something I had never done before and I learned how to use this program.

The requirements for this project were to create a living object (such as a person or animal) but also something inanimate such as a chair or table. I created an elephant and a breakfast scene. For more information and the images please click below.

Description: This will give you a description of what I did in creating this project. It describes the steps that I have taken and also the difficulties that I encountered.
