PLEASE
NOTE: This collaboration evaluation was for a project called
"The Great Gatsby Project" for which my group wrote
and filmed a screenplay based on "The Great Gatsby."
Carefully, and with as much detail as possible, describe what
each person in your group (including yourself) did to get this
project done.
Nathaniel
Bethard worked on a seven page portion of the chapter, converting
it into a screen play. He also acted as Tom in the screen play.
Nathaniel provided the camera for the optional filming of the
screen play. He did a satisfactory job memorizing, and participating
in the screen play, though I felt his dedication and work ethic
could have improved somewhat. Nathaniel's contributions during
group discussions were important and constructive.
Jamie
Estevez worked on a seven page portion of the chapter, converting
it into a screen play. He played Nick in the screen play. Jamie
did an exceptional job acting in the screen play, and worked
diligently at memorizing his part, and offered constructive
criticism to the other actors in the play. His contribution
to the writing of the screenplay was very good, as he obviously
has experience writing scripts. His written stage direction
and blocking needed little editing. Jamie's contributions during
group meetings and discussions were constructive and on topic,
and quite helpful.
Kris
Chiang worked on a six page portion of the chapter, converting
it into a screen play. Personally, I felt that his writing skills
were less than satisfactory. His portion of the script required
a large amount of editing. Kris played George Wilson in the
screen play, and was also the camera man during the optional
filming portion of the project. Kris' contributions to the group
were minimal, and at times not constructive or helpful.
Adam
Rusin worked on a five page portion of the chapter, converting
it into a screen play. Adam's writing of the script was poor.
He was asked to rewrite his section twice, before I (due to
lack of time) took over and rewrote his section of the chapter.
Adam was nowhere to be found on the day we had set aside for
filming, and so was not included in the filming portion of the
screen play. His contributions to the group during discussions
were minimal, and mostly off topic and distracting. At this
point, he has not memorized his lines for the performance, and
so I am concerned that he may not perform well later this week.
I
worked on an seven page portion of the chapter, converting it
into a screen play. The other members of the group submitted
their writing to me to be edited, and I completed all the editing
of the script. I arranged the use of different houses in Vallejo
for filming, as well as the use of an automotive garage (to
be used as Wilson's garage), and a Mercedes 380sl (to be used
as Gatsby's car). I played Gatsby in the screen play, and also
directed the optional filming portion of the project. I also
recruited actors from school and from Vallejo to play bit parts
in the optional filming portion of the project.
.
If
your team was given 100 points for this project, how would you
divide the points up among your group members? Explain your answer.
I
would give myself 35 points. I edited and rewrote the entire
script, as well as directed and arranged the screen play. Responsibility
was left to me for the other members in the group, and I feel
that my contribution to the completion of the project was very
thorough and complete.
I
would give Jamie Estevez 25 points. His contribution, I feel,
was the greatest of my four partners. He kept a positive attitude,
and his contributions were all very constructive throughout
the project.
I
would give Nathaniel Bethard 18 points. His contribution, though
positive for the most part, was not as complete as Jamie's or
mine. I felt that he could have contributed more to the completion
of the project.
I
would give Kris Chiang 12 points. His contributions were minimal,
if at all. However, his contributions did not detract from the
overall performance of the group as a whole.
I
would give Adam Rusin 10 points. I was very disappointed with
his work on this project. He ditched the filming, joked around
during group discussions, and exercised poor writing skills
in his portion of the script.
.
What
problems did you group have that deserve special consideration?
(Eg. constant absence of a group member) Please explain
fully.
We
ran into a dilemma early in the production of our screen play.
There were three women parts to be played, but our group was a
five person all male group. We were required, then, to recruit
three females for the performance.
Also,
Adam Rusin was not present for the filming of the screen play.
Had his absence been announced prior to the filming of the movie,
this would not have presented much of a problem. But the problem
was that he simply did not show up. We were forced to change
the parts of the actors, and have Jamie (who was originally
going to play a number of bit parts) play Nick. I was forced
to call a few of my friends in Vallejo to play a few parts in
the movie. They graciously gave up their Sunday afternoons to
help us. Had they not, we would have truly been in a bind.
