Dear Friend,

As I approach the end of my career as a high school student, I must present a question: "What exactly has been the result of these past twelve years?"

The purpose of a high school education is certainly disputable, and the rewards therein even more so. Myriad high school students will say that high school is nothing more than an institution designed to occupy teens as they transgress the divide between child and adult. Others will stipulate that the purpose of high school is to prepare adolescents mentally and emotionally for the arduous challenge that lies ahead.

To me, high school is an adventure. It is a miraculous journey through time; an inspirational trek into the inner person. In these four years I have re-invented self, becoming a more complete person than the one as whom I began. I have strengthened my mind, sharpened my skills, and acquired a more acute awareness of myself and of my surroundings. I have developed a greater appreciation for the many wonders of the world in which I live.

It is difficult to say exactly where my life's path will lead me. My youth has opened many doors, and I am inclined to walk through all of them. It will be interesting, to say the least, to see where I end up after my travels.

This document is the preface to my Digital Portfolio. Composed of selected works I completed during my high school career, this Digital Portfolio is an accurate and astute reflection of my development as a student, and as a person.

Through your viewing of this Digital Portfolio, you will gain an understanding of the process of development that has brought me this far. And, perhaps, you will gain insight as to whe
re I am going.

Thanks for coming.

Myk
