My Personal Statement

To Whom It May Concern:

Looking back on my life up to this point, I realize that my idea of success, and dreams for the future have change a lot, yet there has always been one tie to all of them. I have always dreamed of being a film director/producer/writer/star or being an archaeologist. I know that whatever I will become, whatever job I have, however many friends and family I have, I will be a success, I will be happy, and I will express myself any way I can.

I attended a small private Seventh-Day Adventist school called Napa Adventist Junior Academy from kindergarten through tenth grade. Although it had its drawbacks, I still would not trade my experiences there for anything. I learned to work in a close environment, and how to co-operate with others. Because of the strict Christian atmosphere, my morals and ethics were developed to reflect that. I also developed a bond with my teachers. In a way, that hurt me when I went to Vintage High School in eleventh grade. I felt like just another number. That was the reason I decided to change schools once again and go to New Technology High School for my senior year.

I decided way before high school what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be rich, famous, and an archaeologist or a film-maker. I am now beginning to take my future seriously. I have not been able to work in archaeological field research as of now, but I am well prepared as to how I am going to start my career. Archaeology is very important to me. I intend to major in cultural anthropology in college and continue onto graduate school to get my doctorate in Celtic history. That is why I plan on attending Mills College for my B.A. I plan to then take two years off and travel the world with my best friends before moving to England if I want to pursue Celtic history at the University of Birmingham in England. Film-making has been an interest that has always been in me, but only as of lately has it blossomed. When I worked at Six Flags Marine World (1996-2000), I would write poetry and screen-plays during my spare time. I have recently started turning my ideas into real scripts. Movies have become so important to me that I have decided to make it my senior project as well as my minor in college. I have also applied for internships at Lucasfilms , Pixar, and ConnectMe TV for Summer 2001. Hopefully I can turn my scripts into full-blown movies.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my personal statement as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

Sincerely,

Alexandria Brown
