To Whom It May Concern:
As my high school career comes to an end I have realized all the possibilities for my life in the future. This portfolio will show how I have narrowed down all the possibilities into the one main idea. I have created this letter and all the work following it, as a great reflection of the energy that I have put forth throughout my high school career. However, this portfolio is not detailed enough to show everything I have done to help myself, nor can it really show the long road that I have chosen to help achieve my life long goal.
My life long goal has always been to become a veterinarian. I am planning to eventually attend the University of Davis after I complete my pre-med classes while maintaining a steady job at an animal based business. Since I was a young girl I knew that I wanted to have a career in either the animal medicine field or the animal exploration field and I also knew if I was going to succeed in this goal that I would have to start young. Since then I have seized every opportunity to help my education prosper by applying to all the veterinary hospitals in Napa. Before I was old enough to work in a veterinary hospital, I volunteered for jobs involving wild life. These jobs helped reassure me that I was really interested in becoming a vet. I have also been focusing on maintaining high grade point averages in my classes to help myself reach my closest goal of going to a four-year college. Currently, I have a job at Silverado Veterinarian Hospital that allows me to work with animals and will help me reach my more extensive goal of becoming a vet. I know I am aware of and ready for the challenges that I will be facing in the up coming years of my education.
In my portfolio I have included a piece to show you how my skills have improved over the many months of working at a veterinarians office. You will see many other pieces that represent my hard work throughout my school career. There are also a variety of items that I have included to show my wide range of skills in school and with animals. Specifically, there are writing samples that I composed after extensive research, two letters of recommendation, and a resume.
After evaluating my portfolio, I think it will be clear to you how dedicated I have been to becoming a veterinarian.
In writing this letter, I felt that it was important that you have an idea the amount of work that I have put in to becoming a vet. I have entered into my portfolio a list of all the volunteer work that I have done over the years to help better my chances of success, along with brief descriptions of the job requirements and what I’ve learned from each experience. The vast majority of jobs that I volunteer for are jobs relating to health and animals. I know that it will take extensive years of schooling and research to fully succeed in my dreams and I feel that I am well prepared for them.
I hope that you enjoy my portfolio as much as I enjoyed compiling it.
Sincerely,
Jessica Hilliard
