Looking forward on my graduation from New Technology High School and entrance to college, and back on my past experiences, I pause to think how I reached this point in my life, and what I plan to do subsequent to it. The following portfolio shows examples of my experiences and achievements that have brought me this far in my life. This portfolio cannot, however, show all of my achievements, nor can it show the intricacies and eccentricities that are present in my life. It is but a tiny glimpse into myself, and into the path that I will choose for my future.

I decided quite some time ago that I wished to pursue a career in music and theatre education. Therefore, my long-term goal is to teach music and/or drama at the university level, while composing in some of my free time.

My first interests in music were spawned when I began playing in band in 5th grade. When I reached 14 years of age I was able to become a student worker for my music teacher, which gave me more opportunities to spend time with music. My interest and love for music and all of its aspects evolved from there, and finally reached the point that it is at now. More recently, as my interest in both music and theatre grew, I decided that I would like to double-major in both music education and theatre education.

I have chosen to focus my senior project on theatre. Originally I wanted to compose a large-scale musical work--one larger and more complex than I had ever previously attempted--and have it performed. However, I felt I would not have enough time to commit to that endeavour, so I decided to direct a play. The play which I chose is entitled Cahoots, and was originally planned to be performed in the Spring of 2001 (however, due to several complications, an actual production of the play was not possible. You can view my Senior Project section for more information).

You will find within my portfolio examples that will help to demonstrate my various proficiencies in multiple subjects, my resume, letters of recommendation, awards, and other content which I feel should have a place in my portfolio. I will also be including information on my various community service ventures, including my student missionary work in several different countries.

It is my hope that from this portfolio you will be able to look into my being; delve into corners of my life that will show you why I have chosen the path that I have. I appreciate your willingness to commit your time to read it.
