The Napa Job Connection is an extensive career and employer service provider to both employers and unemployed people, matching the skills from the unemployed to those employers who have a certain demand in a type of field. Napa Job Connection has a large career center in their main office to provide people an option to search for a job through the Internet. Many people utilize Napa Job Connection for their employment options throughout the Napa County. The Napa Job Connection needed a website engineer to develop a mainstream website for visitors to view. Since I am literate in website designing, I have chosen to pursue this internship because of my skills in that field. Angie Divingnzzo, my supervisor, has told me what she wanted in her future website.

I had to accomplish various tasks in order to build Napa Job Connection a very good website. First, I needed to build a template backbone for all the information to be filled in. With that template, inputting data is an easy task. My second task was to actually fill in the information that has to be on the site. The information was given to me by my supervisor in order to display what needs to be shown to others. The last task was to find a host and a domain name to post up the website on the World Wide Web. Napa Job Connection was required to pay a fee towards their domain name and hosting space. I have learned a lot about being in demand. I have worked numerous hours to a site that needed to be posted publicly towards a wide variety of people. I had to understand the demand of design toward the template in order to accompany a wide variety of users.

I have had many numerous meetings with Angie during my internship, making sure that her information is put into the website. I had to call her when I needed any suggestions to the website I have built. The theories of color, typography, and themes that I have learned in New Technology High School have been applied to the work that I have completed. I feel that the company’s methods and practices were different than what I was taught in school because of the work. I was not required to work onsite, which meant that I was fully independent to complete the work in time. I feel that I have gained more work experience, allowing myself to be more prepared for the workforce.

I have used various tools that I have learned at New Technology High School. I have used Dreamweaver, our basic html platform program to compose our template. In addition, I have worked with Adobe Photoshop to compress and resize images according to the placement field on the template. I have learned those programs at New Technology High School and have used it on my internship. I have introduced those programs to them for completion of their website.

            I feel that this internship was a great experience. I was able to work with a big company that needed a website for their business. I think that my internship was not intellectually challenging, but challenging due to the respect of time management. Being a senior in New Technology High School takes a lot of time, especially finishing a lot of homework and assignments. By balancing my time management with my internship and my studies, I have had a great learning experience. I feel that this internship is great for other students because the time management and technological skills utilized is expected. I think that this internship experience affects my career goals due to the polishing of balancing my schedules as well as applying what I have learned towards other companies.
