Curicular Literacy
After reading Arthur Miller's play "Death of a Salesman" in my Political Studies class I took an essay test about the play. The essay is focused on the play's main character Willy Loman. Willy is an aging salesman who is falling behind in his field because he can't keep up with new technology. I wrote this essay from Willy's perspective and I tried to use language that his character might use. I had to really know his character from the play in order to write an authentic sounding essay expressing his opinions. I thoroughly enjoyed this play and paid close attention to Willy so I think I was able to capture his character in my essay fairly well. This essay proves that I knew and understood the literature.
The Project
I learned a lot about economics in the Food Court project. In this project my group had to select five out of twelve possible restaurants to be in our school's new food court. It was much harder than it seems because we had to consider how much profit the resturaunts would make as well as the popularity of the cusine, the health content of the food and meeting students special dietary needs. This project was a real world problem that helped me to learn the economics curriculum at the same time.
