Written Communication
I have always been better at expressing myself through writing rather than speaking. I enjoy writing in my spare time. I have written countless essays throughout my high school career. Last year I got a little out of practice because I wasn't writing as much as I usually do. I am happy to be in an English class this year that challenges me and exercises my skills. This assignment was to write a compare and contrast essay. I was thrilled to get this assignment because I had never written an essay like this before. Learning a new essay format was a nice change of pace. For this assignment I interviewed my grandmother and my mother about the economic experiences they have had in their lives. I asked them questions about the mistakes they made and the success they achieved along their career paths. After conducting the interviews I wrote an essay comparing and contrasting their experiences to my own.
The Project
This was an essay that I wrote after reading the play "Death of a Salesman" in my Political Literature class. This essay was fun to write because I wrote it from the perspective of Willy Loman, a character from the play. Trying to communicate as someone else was more difficult than I anticipated. It was interesting to adopt a certain charater's speach patterns and vocabulary. This essay was definetly a learning experience.
